Founded in 1870 by Pierre-Lazare Ponnelle, Maison Ponnelle has a rich history rooted in winemaking innovation and tradition. Pierre-Lazare established his winery and vineyards and conducted extensive research on fermentation and winemaking processes. His work led to a collaboration with Louis Pasteur, who was living in Dôle, near Beaune, the wine capital of Burgundy.
Today, Louis Ponnelle, the fifth generation, continues the family’s legacy, managing the Maison Ponnelle estate. The winery owns vineyards across various Côte de Beaune appellations and also vinifies wines from purchased fruit sourced from Côte de Nuits vineyards.
Maison Ponnelle remains committed to traditional, environmentally respectful viticulture, preserving centuries-old methods:
This dedication to organic, sustainable practices ensures that Maison Ponnelle continues to produce wines that reflect the purity and authenticity of Burgundy’s historic terroirs.
