Le Brun de Neuville was born from the vision of dedicated winegrowing families who came together to celebrate and elevate the Côte de Sézanne and its luminous, expressive Chardonnays. Since 1963, this spirit of independence, craftsmanship, and shared purpose has thrived, now carried forward by Damien Champy and his team in a family-led spirit that has endured for over 60 years.
In 1963, in the picturesque village of Bethon, Mr. André Vandier, Mrs. de Reviers, and 26 passionate winegrowers founded “La Crayère.” United by tradition and a deep connection to their land, their collaborative spirit laid the foundation for what is now Le Brun de Neuville.
Today, nearly 170 winegrowers are part of the Le Brun de Neuville family. Together, they share their expertise, values, and resources to create a refined and expressive range of Champagnes, crafted with care and a commitment to excellence.
Our vineyards span 12 villages in the Côte de Sézanne, each with its personality and terroir. Our Chef de Cave and his team carefully tend these crus, bringing out the unique qualities of each plot.
Most of the vines were planted over 40 years ago, rooted in the heart of the Côte de Sézanne. Chardonnay dominates the landscape, covering 90% of the estate. This noble grape lends elegance and finesse to our cuvées. The remaining 10% is Pinot Noir, which brings depth, roundness, and length to the palate.
The Côte de Sézanne rests on a chalk foundation, only lightly covered by a thin layer of calcite-rich granular topsoil. This porous subsoil acts as a natural reservoir supporting the vines even in dry summers.
The vineyards benefit from hillside exposures that capture optimal sunlight, allowing the grapes to mature while fully retaining freshness and tension.
Le Brun de Neuville is leading the way in promoting sustainable practices among its growers. Many vineyards are organically farmed, without herbicides, and ploughed by hand. A growing number are certified Haute Valeur Environnementale (HVE) or Viticulture Durable en Champagne (VDC)—reflecting our deep respect for nature and future generations.
Chardonnay is the emblematic grape of Le Brun de Neuville, forming the foundation of our acclaimed Blanc de Blancs Champagnes. It offers delicacy, floral and citrus notes, and a signature minerality that evolves gracefully over time, making it ideal for ageing.
Pinot Noir plays a supporting role, contributing richness, structure, and length to select blends, complementing Chardonnay’s finesse.
