Albert Ponnelle Bourgogne Rouge Les Tilleuls

Description

Les Tilleuls Bourgogne Rouge is a blend from nine vineyards; one plot is located in the Hautes Côtes de Nuits, five plots located in Côte de Beaune and Hautes Côtes de Beaune and three plots from Côte Chalonnaise. The vineyards orientation is south and south-east and the vines are 25 years old average.
Yields: 40 hl/ha
Hand-harvested, cold maceration, 30% whole bunch, indigenous yeast, transferred in stainless steel tanks and oak barrels after three weeks, 40% is aged in 2, 3, 4 and 5 years old oak barrels for ten months. The wine is then lightly filtered and aged a bit longer in the bottle before release.
2021 Vintage: 2021 was a challenging vintage for Burgundy, the growing season in early April was particularly cold with untimely frost, cutting production by more than half overall. The next few months brought a lot of humidity, it was a cloudy and damp summer season which engendered significant issues with diseases such as mildew and put pressure on dealing with them and morale in general. The weather improved towards the end of the summer season and harvest was almost ideal in between the odd shower. It is often said that 2021 is ‘a return to classicism in Burgundy; a produce of weather more often encountered in the 1970s and 1980s but with first-class plant material in the vineyards and infinitely more skill and ambition in the cellar.’ Jancis Robinson
