Domaine Rolly Gassmann’s Muscat Vendanges Tardives is a late-harvest Muscat d’Alsace made from very ripe Muscat grapes picked at high natural sugar to produce a richly sweet dessert wine. Based on Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains (and often some Muscat Ottonel) from limestone-influenced vineyards around Rorschwihr, it combines intense grapey and floral aromatics with notes of citrus, tropical fruit, honey and spice. The palate is unctuous and lusciously sweet yet balanced by fresh acidity, making it suitable both as a meditative dessert wine and with pairings such as white chocolate, strawberry-based desserts and mint-accented dishes.
