Domaine Rolly Gassmann Pinot Noir

Description

Domaine Rolly Gassmann’s Pinot Noir (bottled as Pinot Noir de Rorschwihr) is a varietal red from limestone-influenced vineyards around Rorschwihr, Rodern and Bergheim in northern Haut-Rhin, farmed organically/biodynamically and harvested by hand. Typically pale to vibrant ruby in colour, it shows aromas of red forest berries, cherry and subtle spice, with a light to medium body, fine tannins and a fresh, mineral-driven palate. The estate ferments with indigenous yeasts and ages the wine in old large foudres, so there is little overt oak influence; alcohol levels are usually around 13–14% with a dry to just off-dry balance. This Pinot Noir is intended as a versatile food wine, working well with poultry, veal, lighter beef dishes, charcuterie and mushroom-based plates.
