Karl Schaefer Riesling ‘Basalt’ Trocken

Description

Lemon yellow. Soft, full-bodied nose characterized by a hint of salty caramel and some spicy baked apple. This is followed by varietal peach and spicy, balsamic notes of rhubarb meringue and a hint of flint. Very dry and sparse on the palate with a clear mineral note. The light mousse lends freshness. The present, crisp acidity is particularly evident in the cheek pockets. The dense, almost salty minerality skillfully buffers the acidity and leaves an enormous tension in the mouth. Tart apples and a hint of extract sweetness on the palate, which slowly fade into the finish with a powerful mouthfeel.
