A sun-drenched site with deep basalt veins from a former volcano, on the slopes of the Palatinate Forest. The site combines Palatinate ripeness with cool minerality and gently smoky notes.
An incredibly concentrated aroma with clear, dense minerality, somewhere between damp stone and slightly smoky notes. The fruit of the Pechstein reveals classic Riesling notes of peach, grapefruit and green apple. These are joined by tropical fruit of mango and papaya typical of the vineyard and a deep, spicy smokiness that is almost reminiscent of smoldering hay and light tobacco.
The palate is pithy, mineral, dry with a deep concentration that barely allows the analytically present acidity to penetrate. An extremely vital wine with a fine salinity and plenty of pressure on the tongue. Soft and gentle on the palate, still with fruit, but also clearly spicy, herbal notes, which fade gently into the finish with a spicy, tart touch and impressive salinity.
