Deep, intense ruby red with garnet highlights. The nose is very elegant, initially releases impressive draughts of fruit and blossoms, resolving into dark fig marmalade and blackcurrant. A smooth, well-integrated spiciness hints at clove, black pepper and eucalyptus. Notes of cloves, liquorice, nutmeg, resins, cinchona and burnt wood: the immediate impression is of a superb liqueur wine. Ageing makes the tannins noble and elegant.
