The vineyards are located at 650 to 700 meters altitude. The altitude has a tremendous impact on the cool-down effect during hot summer days, coupled with the sandy loam soils, not only give Piekenierskloof wines a sense of perfume and minerality, but also allow the grapes to ripen slowly and develop complex flavours. This ultimately results in the creation of wines
with predominantly fresh fruit and berry flavours.
The grapes are handpicked very early in the morning allowing the fruits to retain the natural flavor. Only free run juice is used,
allowed to settle, inoculated with selected yeast strains and fermented under controlled conditions at 14-16° Centigrade.
